In 2022, based on an idea by Jaime Fernández, a former mayor of San Miguel, Jesús Ibarra, dean of the Instituto Allende, published the definitive history of San Miguel de Allende, San Miguel de Allende: Its DNA, currently available only in Spanish. The book presents a comprehensive history accompanied by an extensive collection of photographs. In this course, Jesús will offer a concise history of the city, also illustrated with numerous photographs. His course on the history of the Instituto Allende was one of Lifelong Learning's most popular offerings last year.

Jesús Ibarra is a scholar and prolific author who has written several important histories. He is currently the academic dean of the Instituto Allende, where he manages a rapidly growing student body.
